今日は女性3名男性1名の方にご参加いただきました。ありがとうございます。

 

初めはいつものようにお互いに近況報告をし合いました。

その中でstray cat(野良猫)に関するお話になりとても盛り上がったため、"What is your favorite animal?"というテーマでウォーミングアップをしました。

会話の中で使われていた単語をいくつか紹介させていただきます。

・crayfish (ザリガニ)

・feline (ネコ科の)

・claw (爪)

・dog person (犬派)

・cat person (猫派)

あなたは犬派ですか？猫派ですか？理由はありますか？

取り掛かりやすいテーマでちょっとだけ英語で理由を考えてみると新たに自分が使いたい単語が見つかるかもしれませんよ☆

 

さて、その後本日のメインテーマであるExpressing prohibitions(禁止)/Expressing obligations(義務)に入っていきました。

シチュエーションを空港&機内と設定し、まずは旅行に必ず持っていくものを出し合いました。いくつか紹介させていただきます。

・a lock (錠)

・a first-aid kit (救急箱)

・an electricity adaptor (アダプター)

・medicine (薬)

・a passport (パスポート)

・a guide book (旅行案内書)

・snacks (お菓子)

その後、対話形式で1人1人旅行に必ず持っていくものとその理由を発表しました。例として、

 

A: I take medicine just in case I get motion sickness(乗り物酔い). What do you definitely take?

 

B: I always take a hair dryer.

 

さらに、<Expressing prohibitions>ではYou can't 〜.

You're not allowed to〜.

You're not permitted to〜.

の３つの表現を使い空港や機内で禁止されていることを発表していきました。いくつか紹介させていただきます。

・You can't take sharp items on a plane.

・You're not allowed to take living animals on a plane.

 

<Expressing obligations>は日本社会の中で義務化されていることを

 ・You must〜.

・You have to〜.

・I need to〜.

の３つの表現を使い発表していきました。いくつか紹介させていただきます。

・You must pay the taxes.

・You must go to school until 15 years old.

・You need to take a visa when you go to India.
